Tech Trends for 2016 worth watching out for!

Smartphones have done it! They’ve made it. They’ve become the face of the future in how we browse the internet, how we make purchases, how we interact with staff members and customers. Let’s face it – the smartphone has made itself invaluable to the business and social world and it’s certainly going to be the driving force behind a few business trends set for 2016 that are well worth your time and attention.

Approximately 51% of media is accessed by smart devices whereas only 42% is currently consumed via laptop and desktop computers – that’s according to KCPB. That’s certainly showing a shift in the way online users do things. What does this mean in terms of business technology trends for 2016? Let’s take a look…

• Painless purchasing processes

This is surely a trend set to hit in 2016. We all have quick and easy access to the online world and of course, shopping via our smartphones, but to date, mobile payments have been on the tricky side.  Market leaders are looking into creating new and reliable ways of making secure mobile payments. The concept of a digital wallet won’t just change the way we do business online now – it will have far reaching future implications too!

• Cloud this, cloud that…

This trend is fairly obvious – businesses seem to already be actively moving to the cloud. While mobile internet access is on the rise, it makes sense for businesses to take up residence in the cloud. This means the business can be accessed and run from anywhere and at any time. Now that’s the type of convenience we’d love to see more of in 2016!

• Improved security

This is more of a necessity for 2016 business and data functions. With employees carrying sensitive company data out of the office and everywhere, the need for security will most definitely increase. In fact, it’s already a concern for many businesses. Businesses are sure to opt for data encrypted cloud back up services and systems that have top notch security features.

• Faster speeds

We all want things to be done faster and when it comes to mobile business platforms, we can expect 2016 to be focused on exactly that. When connecting to a network or cloud services, things need to happen fast. There’s no time for waiting around, in the business world. In some markets 4G roll out for mobile is already well advanced and there’s even some talk about 5G, while fibre optics rollout seems to be ever increasing, with a pricing war already in the making!

• Wearing the office!

Smartphones have made us all mobile, and businesses are certainly benefiting from employees being on the move with instant access to everything they need, with many apps already beginning to deliver time saving business notifications. 2016 is set to see a trend of wearables designed to make mobile office work even more convenient. No more lugging around of that tablet or laptop! We’re keen to see what emerges here!
